Day Three, Groundhog's Day

2/7/2017

Ok, it wasn't actually Groundhog's Day.  But the day was pretty much exactly like the two before it.  Up early and into the pool.  Play in the sand.  Eat good food.

Oh wait, I'm wrong.  We did go to the Shell Shack for a little shopping.  The Shell Shack has all the t-shirts and local goodies that you expect at a tourist trap. But they also have unique merchandise and all the high end things you need to decorate your vacation home in the Keys.  Seriously, if you've ever rented a house at a beach location and thought, 'where did they get that naked mermaid lamp?' chances are it came from the Shell Shack.  And it costs $300.

I didn't take a picture of the aforementioned lamp, but I did take one of these placemats because I want to try and make some for our house.  But in different fabric because the blue coral doesn't go with our house, unfortunately.

After the Shell Shack it was sandwiches in the room and pool/sand time.

For our final dinner, we visited The Key Largo Conch House.  It's really not fair that one area has so many good restaurants.  If you like fresh seafood, fresh air and a laid-back vacation, go to Key Largo, post haste.

Ok, let's talk conch fritters. I don't love them, yet I feel the need to try them every time. And they never get any better.

This is the Gulf Stream Crab Stuffed Mahi with lobster butter sauce. It's smack your mama good.

And with another slice of Key Lime pie, we ended our evening at the Conch House and our time in the Keys was drawing to a close.  But that's ok! The next part of the vacation was going to be just as fabulous!
