I really Tried to go to Mexico

This post could also be called: I have vacation ADD.

For the past two years, we have taken our Spring vacation to Key Largo, Florida.  We love it there; great food, great weather, the condo we rent has an awesome pool.  It's near the top of the list of places I would like to retire.

Unfortunately, Rob was set to deploy for February and March this year, so we would miss the window of early February deals and empty flights to Miami (where we fly into to drive to Key Largo).  We had been talking about a cruise, and I found a good one on Royal Caribbean, 5 days with a stop in Belize and a stop in Cozumel.  We booked it!  Hurrah!

The problem with booking vacations 5 months in advance is... I tend to do too much research.  And when I started looking into the cruise we had planned, I realized each time the boat stopped we would be paying to go to the beach.  Our kids are still too young to do things like zip-lining and cave tubing, so on this particular cruise, beach breaks were our only option.  That's ok, because we love the beach.  But if we are already paying a lot of money to go on the cruise, and then paying more money to get off the boat to go to the beach, doesn't it make more sense to just go to the beach?

So I cancelled the cruise and we booked an awesome all inclusive resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico.  It had everything we were looking for, food, drinks, beach, pool, and a kids club with a waterpark.  It looked amazing.  I wish I was there right now.  So Rob deployed with our trip to Mexico all booked.  I taught the kids a little Spanish, hello, thank you, that sort of thing.

And then... the vacation ADD started to creep in.  I couldn't help it!  You see, for the last two deployments, we've celebrated Rob's deployment return with a trip to Disney World.  Doesn't doing something twice make it a tradition?  But, we just went to WDW in October, going again 6 months later seems a bit excessive, even for me.

I shouldn't have looked, but I did.  And I found an awesome military rate on a Disney Cruise.  We could do a 4 night Disney cruise with a few days at Shades of Green beforehand for a little bit more than our 6 nights in Mexico.  Rob gave me his blessing, so Mexico was cancelled and before you could say "Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse," we were booked on the Disney Dream.

Our cruise Itinerary is:
Day 1- Port Canaveral
Day 2- Nassau, Bahamas (where we will stay on the ship enjoying all it has to offer)
Day 3- Disney's Castaway Cay (this also happens to be my birthday!!)
Day 4- At Sea

I was worried that the kids would be disappointed, because they've been telling everyone they know that they are going to Mexico.  Luckily, Mickey was kind enough to send them a letter inviting them to go on the ship.  ;)  Add in a Youtube video of the ship, and they are now telling everyone they are going on a Mickey Cruise.  Can you say "Super Cheers!?!"
