A Brief HIstory of Our Disney Love

I have a long history with Walt Disney World.  It goes back to when I was 3 and my PopPop passed away.  My Ninny didn't want us to be sad, so she took us all to Walt Disney World (from here on it will be referred to as WDW) for Christmas.  I have no memories of that trip, and I can't remember seeing any pictures of it, but I know my Ninny loved Disney and Mickey Mouse almost as much as she loved us grandkids.  So I guess it was then that I was bitten by the WDW bug.

Fast forward to 2010.  Rob deployed for his second time, the first time since we were married.  We wanted to celebrate his return with a trip, and somehow we decided to go to WDW. I read a guidebook and  talked to a travel agent at AAA.  We decided to stay at Shades of Green, the on property resort for members of the military.  We had an outline of where we wanted to go and a few dining reservations, and it turned out to be a completely magical trip.  We did all 4 parks in 4 days!

Then, we went a few more times.  We loved the resorts, the theme parks, the eating. You could say we couldn't get enough.

When we went on our Babymoon in 2012, I really thought that was our last trip for a long while.  I mean, who takes twins to WDW? Crazy people, that's who!  This is me, with the babies in my belly, where the entrance to New Fantasyland was being built.

And here we are in almost the same spot about a year and a half later.  Because it turns out we are the crazy people who take twins to WDW.  That's right, The Beans' first trip to WDW was to celebrate another deployment.  They were 10 months old.  They don't remember it, but we will never forget it!

But in 2014, we didn't go to Disney World at all.  Oh wait, Rob and I did take our first Disney Cruise.  It was also magical.  There are so many small details that just make a Disney vacation fantastic.  Plus, the food was amazing, you get dessert every night, there was a pirate night with fireworks, and the adults only area was just what we needed.

I guess we do go to WDW a lot.  And I can't really tell you why.  It's different every time, except the things you love are always there.  You can plan as much as you want, or as little as possible and still have a great time.  Taking the kids in 2015 was special because they knew who the characters were, they enjoyed the rides, it was all real to them.

I know the days of make believe aren't forever.  I look forward to taking these guys all around the world, to the places we love and discovering new places together.  But for right now, we are an unapologetic Disney family.
