So That's Why They Call It Sioux Falls

Before we begin this next to the last day of our trip, let's take a moment of silence for Rob's vacation beard.  It was awesome for me.  Rob has been in the Air Force or flying for an airline for our entire relationship, so whenever he has time to grow a beard to me it means a long stretch of days he hasn't had to fly.  We were going to have dinner this night with friends of his from pilot training and he wanted to shave before seeing them.  So enjoy this last look.

Bye-bye, vacation beard!

Since we had spent the night at a hotel, we partook of the hotel breakfast, which is my kids FAVORITE thing.  They love when I let them wear their jammies down to the breakfast room.  Kids are weird.  Then we loaded into the Four Winds and headed to a park to explore the falls.  You see, the city of Sioux Falls is located on the Sioux River and there are some pretty impressive waterfalls on the river.  Hence the name, Sioux Falls.
Once we were done checking out the falls, we ate lunch in the camper, then headed out.  Our final destination for this day was the home of Will and Allison Poulson.  Rob and Will went to pilot training together.  They haven't seen each other in more than 10 years, and I had never met either of them.  But pilot families can always find something to talk about!

Will and Allison live with their two daughters on a cattle farm in the middle of God's country, also known as Iowa.  In fact, we had to renavigate our way there due to an angry river.  Getting there was an adventure!  Once we arrived we were all so busy visiting I didn't take any pictures! Their girls were so sweet and entertained our kids by making slime and jumping on the (very wet) trampoline.  Oh, and Will grilled us a feast of chicken and ribs.  Delicious!

We boondocks that night on their driveway, which means we camped without hooking up to anything.  Another great advantage of having a camper is visiting family and friends without feeling like you are putting people out of their beds.

Rob did manage to take these photos the next morning, enjoying a cup of coffee on the Poulson's porch before we left.  Thanks again for the hospitality, Will and Allison!
